Events & Activities
For Educators
Phoenix Art Museum believes one of its primary functions is to make art accessible and fun to school children of all ages. We offer a variety of outreach programs to accommodate educators with unique needs and constraints, from school visits, to Museum tours, to supplementing classroom resources.
School Tours
Educators may schedule tours of special exhibitions or the Museum’s collection by contacting the Tour Coordinator at (602) 257-4356. Tours require 5 weeks advance notice and are subject to the relevant admission charge depending on day of the week and group age. For more information or to request a School Programs brochure, send e-mail.

Slide Presentations
Museum Docents offer one-hour slide presentations to help your students prepare for a Museum visit or to complement your classroom curriculum.

Museum Docents present a program including a slide talk and an art project. Choose from "Picturing Arizona" (4th grade) or "Burial Art of the Ancient Egyptians" (6th grade). The program lasts 40-60 minutes and is limited to 30 students at a time. You provide a classroom with a sink and we bring the rest.

Each fall, Phoenix Art Museum Docents host a training program for classroom volunteers to present art programs in schools. Weekly sessions provide art teaching techniques, easy classroom projects and a bit of art history.
Next Art Masterpiece training, "Fall into Art," begins on Wednesday, September 5, 9am, at Phoenix Art Museum and continues every Wednesday through September 26, 9:30am - 12 Noon.
Cost is $10 for entire program; additional fee of $10 for a copy of the optional training manual. For a flyer on the training (pdf), click here.
Other workshops for educators are offered occasionally in conjunction with special exhibitions. For more information, send an e-mail.
