Its purpose was “To perpetuate the memory and culture of the Old West as typified by the late Frederic Remington, Charles Russell, and others,” as well as “To insure authentic representations of the life of the West, as it was and is.” Their first annual show was held in 1966 at what is now the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.</p>
