PHOENIX (June 18, 2020) – Phoenix Art Museum will present a number of virtual events in July as part of our commitment to engage audiences with the Museum’s exhibitions and collections from the safety and comfort of their homes during the time of COVID-19.

The Whole Story: Part XII
July 17 | 5:30 pm

The Whole Story returns to Phoenix Art Museum throughout 2020 in a virtual format. This live-stream storytelling show celebrates the nuances of our humanity through personal stories told from the Black perspective. This pay-what-you-wish program will be live-streamed on Facebook Live, YouTube Live, and phxart.org. For more information, click here.

National Theatre at Home
For those who miss National Theatre Live (NTL) broadcasts at Phoenix Art Museum, a catalogue of NTL productions is available to stream for free online, with full-length plays presented for one week beginning every Thursday. For more information, click here.

  • A Midsummer’s Night Dream | July 1 – 2
    Shakespeare’s beloved romantic comedy comes to life with Gwendoline Christie and Hammed Animashaun. For more information, click here.
  • Les Blancs | July 2 – 9 Directed by Yaël Farber, the final play by Lorraine Hansberry is a brave, illuminating, and powerful work that confronts the hope and tragedy of revolution. For more information, click here.
  • The Deep Blue Sea | July 9 – 16
    Terence Rattigan’s devastating masterpiece features one of the greatest female roles in contemporary drama, played by Helen McCrory. For more information, click here.
  • Amadeus | July 16 – 23      
    Lucian Msamati plays Salieri in Peter Shaffer’s iconic play, directed by Michael Longhurst with live orchestral accompaniment by Southbank Sinfonia. For more information, click here.

Weekly Virtual Mindfulness Sessions
July 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 | Noon

Scientific studies show the art of mindfulness can relieve anxiety, depression, pain, and stress and actually change the way we feel, think, work, and play by opening new pathways in the brain. Presented in collaboration with Hospice of the Valley, this free, 30-minute, at-home mindfulness session promotes living in the moment. This session is hosted on Zoom, a video conference platform. For Teens | Virtual Summer Workshops
July 8, 22 | 2 pm

For ages 13 – 18. All skill levels welcome.
Hosted by a PhxArt Museum educator, Remix It: Virtual Summer Workshops for Teens encourages art lovers aged 13 to 18 to create their own mixed-media artworks inspired by an object from the Museum’s collection. Each session of this workshop series will explore a different approach to the creative process. Sessions will be presented through Zoom, a video conference platform. Virtual Slow Art at Home | Guided Meditation with Phoenix Art Museum
July 23 | Noon

Guided by a Museum educator, this pay-what-you-wish #PhxArtatHome meditation session provides an opportunity to connect with the present moment and create a deeper understanding of a work of art from the Museum’s collection. Virtual Exhibition Tour | India: Fashion’s Muse
Helen Jean, the Jacquie Dorrance Curator of Fashion Design at Phoenix Art Museum, takes viewers on a virtual tour of India: Fashion’s Muse. Featuring more than 50 stunning ensembles and accessories, the Museum’s latest fashion exhibition celebrates the extraordinary craftsmanship of fashions from India as well as the global trends and couture fantasies they’ve inspired across centuries. In addition to traditional garments and designer works by Alexander McQueen, Givenchy, Halston, and Chanel, Fashion’s Muse features contemporary ensembles by Anamika Khanna to illustrate how Indian fashion designers today are merging traditional practices and techniques with modern materials and sensibilities. Virtual Exhibition Preview and Audio Guides | Teresita Fernández: Elemental
Virtually preview the Museum’s upcoming exhibition Teresita Fernández: Elemental, the first mid-career retrospective of the internationally acclaimed conceptual artist. Fernández is best known for her immersive installations and sculptures and her monumental public art commissions.
