Liz Lerma

Born in Marfa, Texas, Liz Lerma is an artist cultural worker, educator, curator, public servant, community activist, performance artist, shaman, trickster, and mother. Her work focuses on hand building ceramic sculpture and clay paintings and performing Ceremonies to the Four Directions. She celebrates her ancestral arts by carrying on the Aztec Empire potters’ practice of making and using ceramic stamps. She reflects on nature and beauty in commonly found objects. She communicates through symbols, texture, and words.
