Description

Though made in the 19th century, this carved jade disk is inspired by the style and form of jades from the Han dynasty 2000 years earlier. The perforated disk form was often found in Han burials to offer protection for the soul of the deceased. Chinese artists admired ancient styles and frequently revived them centuries later.
