PAST TRIPS:
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS OCTOBER 28-30, 2025
In October 2025, Circles of Support traveled to Chicago for an immersive exploration of the city’s vibrant art scene. The group engaged with renowned artists, toured the homes of distinguished local collectors, visited leading galleries and museums, and enjoyed exceptional cuisine at some of the Windy City’s finest restaurants.
Highlights of the program included a private tour of the Art Institute of Chicago’s Impressionist and Post-Impressionist galleries, led by Gloria Groom, Chair and Winton Green Curator of Painting and Sculpture of France and Executive Director of Initiatives in France. The itinerary also featured studio visits with Nick Cave, Caroline Kent, and Nate Young, as well as time with Theaster Gates’ exhibition at GRAY Gallery and the SMART Museum of Art at the University of Chicago. Each day offered a rich array of artistic encounters.
The intimate home tours were especially memorable, providing a rare opportunity to meet Chicago collectors whose passion for art has shaped remarkable personal collections. Many works were bold and contemporary, celebrating the city’s creative spirit through pieces by living local artists.
An in-depth conversation on abstraction and reality emerged during our visits with Caroline Kent and Nate Young. We are delighted to share that Caroline Kent will serve as the speaker for the Spring Lenhardt Lecture at Phoenix Art Museum on March 25, 2026.

THE CIRCLES EXPERIENCE
At Phoenix Art Museum, art is the foundation—the guiding inspiration—of all we do. From our earliest days in 1915, when the seed for our Museum was first planted by the Phoenix Women’s Club, to the opening of our landmark building at Central Avenue and McDowell Road in 1959, our mission has always been one of art, connection, and impact. Today, the Museum is the largest visual arts institution in the Southwest, home to more than 21,000 remarkable works spanning American, Latin American, European, Asian, modern and contemporary art, and fashion. Through a landmark partnership with the University of Arizona’s Center for Creative Photography, we also showcase dynamic photography exhibitions. Each year, more than 250,000 individuals engage in meaningful exchanges and cultivate a sense of belonging through our dynamic exhibitions, collections, and experiences with art. And none of this would be possible without the Museum’s Circles of Support.
Circles of Support donors have a direct impact on the ability to fulfil our mission. Each year, the Museum provides more than $2 million in free admission to our community, through weekly Pay-What-You-Wish Wednesdays, monthly First Fridays, and programs such as our free field trips for Title-I schools and Blue Star Museums, which provides free admission for veterans and active-duty military. Circles of Support funds nearly half of all free admission programs benefiting our community.
Circles donors are not just supporters but ambassadors—art enthusiasts, community leaders, and advocates for cultural enrichment who believe in the power of art to transform lives. In return for your sustaining support as an integral part of the PhxArt community, you’ll gain access to unique events and cultivate meaningful relationships with Museum leaders, artists from Arizona and beyond, and fellow art lovers.
