PHOENIX (February
20, 2020) – This March, event and
exhibition highlights at Phoenix Art Museum include an additional week to experience
Legends of
Speed, the opening of Teresita Fernández: Elemental followed by a public lecture by the artist, a live performance of Southwest Shakespeare Company’s
BECOMING
OTHELLO: A Black Girl’s Journey,
a public talk
on the early works of iconic photographer Ansel Adams, and more. Make sure to

PHOENIX ART MUSEUM EXTENDS LEGENDS OF SPEED
Due to popular demand, Phoenix Art Museum has extended
public access to Legends of Speed. The exhibition of vintage race cars is now open
through March 22, 2020.
March First
Friday at Phoenix Art Museum will be inspired by Legends of Speed, with a PhxArt Drag Race hosted by Mynx De Milo
and featuring drag queens and kings from across the Valley. Share your First

To celebrate International
Women’s Day, Phoenix Art Museum staff will present art making and gallery tours
highlighting women artists in the Museum’s collection.
Free for Museum Members. Included with general
admission.
Teresita Fernández, considered one of the most innovative artists of
her generation, will discuss her mid-career retrospective, Teresita Fernández: Elemental. Fernández
is renowned for her experiential
sculptures and her prominent public installations at Harvard College, Madison
Square Park, and Olympic Sculpture Park in Seattle. RSVP required.
Crossfade Lab (CFL)
ticketholders can show their CFL tickets at admissions to receive buy-one-get-one admission to Phoenix
Art Museum during the opening weekend of
Teresita Fernández: Elemental(Saturday, March 21 and Sunday, March 22, 2020). Admission on Saturday, March 21 includes
entry to the Lenhardt Lecture at 1 pm with the artist herself. CFL ticketholders
can also show their tickets at The Museum Store on Saturday, March 21 and
Sunday, March 22, 2020 to receive a 10%
discount on the Teresita Fernández: Elemental exhibition
catalogue. These offers are
available on-site only at Phoenix Art Museum.
In partnership with
Southwest Shakespeare Company, audiences experience a live performance that
explores a young woman’s ups and downs on her journey to becoming Othello.
$25 for Museum Members; $35 for the general public. Includes

Rebecca A. Senf, PhD, chief
curator at the Center for Creative Photography, University of Arizona, will discuss
her upcoming book, Making a Photographer:
The Early Work of Ansel Adams, to shed light on the iconic, yet mysterious,
early life and work of one of the most influential photographers of all time.

Arizona Costume Institute
(ACI) presents author Rebecca C. Tuite, who will discuss her book 1950s in Vogue: The Jessica Daves Years,
1952-1962, which illuminates the journey of Vogue’s former editor-in-chief.
In collaboration with
Kadampa Meditation Center Phoenix, Phoenix Art Museum welcomes internationally
renowned and ordained Buddhist teacher and monk Gen-la Kelsang Jampa, who will
offer tactical approaches for relieving everyday anxiety.

Broadcast live from The
Old Vic in London, Arthur Miller’s drama All
My Sons presents Academy Award-winner Sally Field and Bill Pullman as
successful couple Kate and Joe Keller, who come to grapple with the fact that
their long-buried truths are about to come to the surface.

Jeremy Irons, the film take viewers on a journey through the Prado Museum, one
of the most popular museums in the world, and explores the history of Spain from
an artistic perspective.

Arizona educators are
invited to discover new ways of integrating art into their classrooms while
meeting fellow Valley teachers and enjoying light appetizers. No art background required. Space is limited. Pre-registration

Valley teens are invited
to explore the works of art in Color
Vibrations, the Museum’s first installation curated by its Teen Art
Council, and experiment with specific art processes related to the artworks on
view.
Between the hours of noon
and 4 pm, visitors of all ages and abilities are invited to engage in hands-on
activities—including a scavenger hunt with prizes—inspired by the Museum’s
collection.
