Sam Gomez is a cultural developer, arts advocate, and multimedia artist specializing in photography and design. Born and raised in Phoenix, Gomez founded and owns the non-profit The Sagrado, the first and only art gallery and community space in South Phoenix dedicated to showcasing local artists. He has successfully directed two annual group art shows, Mujeres del Desierto and Ancestral Art Exhibition and Celebration, now celebrating their ninth anniversary in fostering and influencing local artists to dig into their ancestral roots.
Gomez also serves as the director and co-founder of Design Empowerment, where he provides expert design and community engagement consultation for significant City projects, including the 3rd Street Pedestrian/Bicycle Bridge Design. His current focus is on developing The Sagrado Futuro at the Rio Salado/South Central Ave, an ambitious initiative that aims to seamlessly integrate arts, culture, and design while promoting stewardship of the surrounding ecosystem. Gomez’s overarching mission is deeply rooted in social justice: “My intentions are to bring justice and equity to low-income communities in South Phoenix.”
