EXHIBITION OPENINGS The Collection: American Modern June 12 – November 17, 2024 American Modern broadly explores how artists of the first half of the 20th century, including artists based in the US Southwest and a significant cohort of women artists like Georgia O’Keeffe and Marguerite Zorach, used abstraction and experimentation to spark new perceptions of modernity and novel modes of expression.
The Collection: American Modern is organized by Phoenix Art Museum and curated by Betsy Fahlman, PhD, adjunct curator of American art. The Collection: American Modern is made possible through the generosity of Men’s Arts Council. All exhibitions at Phoenix Art Museum are underwritten by the Phoenix Art Museum Exhibition Excellence Fund, founded by The Opatrny Family Foundation with additional major support provided by Joan Cremin.
NOW OPEN Larry Bell: Improvisations Through January 5, 2025 Larry Bell: Improvisations explores the progression of Bell’s process from the 1960s through the present day, featuring a wide range of glass cubes, sculptures, large-scale standing walls, and mixed-media collages Bell created using a cutting-edge vacuum deposition technique. The exhibition also premieres one newly commissioned large-scale work—a cubic form representing the mercurial sun, surrounded by clouded glass evocative of the fog of Venice Beach, California.
Larry Bell: Improvisations is organized by Phoenix Art Museum and curated by Rachel Sadvary Zebro, associate curator of collections at Phoenix Art Museum. It is made possible through the generosity of Lee and Mike Cohn and Meredith and Charles von Arentschildt. All exhibitions at Phoenix Art Museum are underwritten by the Phoenix Art Museum Exhibition Excellence Fund, founded by The Opatrny Family Foundation with additional major support provided by Joan Cremin.
