Phoenix Art Museum Presents…The pARTy: The Show Must Go On on Saturday, March 26th starting at 6:00pm

Chaired by Ann Siner, Tess Loo and Sally Odegard, the circus-themed gala will celebrate the artwork and legacy of one of Arizona’s most cherished artists Philip C. Curtis

(PHOENIX) The Show Must Go On! After an unprecedented hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Phoenix Art Museum and special guests will celebrate the return of The pARTy with a whimsical and circus-themed gala on Saturday, March 26th, 2022.

The pARTy: The Show Must Go On! will take place at Phoenix Art Museum. It will honor the enduring legacy of Philip C. Curtis, one of Arizona’s most cherished artists, and represents the continued celebration of the reinvigorated Ullman Center.

The black-tie evening begins at 6:00p.m. with LIVE entertainment and a creative cocktail hour in Steele Gallery. With a circus-themed immersive experience featuring unique performances by unicyclists, ribbon dancers, stilt walkers, and other performers, guests will get exclusive access to The Ullman Center to experience the exhibition Philip C. Curtis and the Landscapes of Arizona with more entertainment to follow and a gourmet plated dinner.

“Phoenix Art Museum is thrilled to mark the return of our annual gala with The pARTy: The Show Must Go On!,” said Mark Feldman, chair of the Museum’s Board of Trustees. “Following the most challenging year in the Museum’s history, we look forward to gathering together in person to celebrate the artwork of Philip C. Curtis and the reopening of The Ullman Center for the Art of Philip C. Curtis.”

CEO and Founder of My Sister’s Closet Ann Siner, alongside Chief Fashion Stylist Tess Loo and Sally Odegard are chairing The pARTy. The Committee also includes Cheryl Londen and Ron Miller.

The pARTy 2022 committee co-chairs Tess Loo, Sally Odegard, and Ann Siner.

“As the saying goes ‘The Show Must Go On’ and we couldn’t more thrilled to put together an absolutely spectacular event for Phoenix Art Museum,” said Co-Chair Tess Loo. “From the decorations, to the crafty cocktails to the exciting entertainment – it will be a night to celebrate and come back to together.”

All funds raised benefit the Museum’s exhibitions, education programs, and vital operations. Since its inception in 2007, the annual event has raised more than $10 million in behalf of Phoenix Art Museum, the leading arts institution in the Southwest.

In October 2021, Phoenix Art Museum reopened The Ullman Center for the Art of Philip C. Curtis, a gallery space dedicated to the ongoing exhibition of works from the institution’s extensive Curtis collection, on the first floor of the Museum’s North Wing. The reopening of The Ullman Center was made possible through the generosity of The Virginia M. Ullman Foundation and the Philip C. Curtis Charitable Trust.

Creative black-tie attire is requested. Complimentary valet parking will be provided. In an effort to help ensure the safety of all guests and staff and to ensure a mask-free event, all pARTy guests will be required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccinations or negative COVID-test results received within 72 hours prior of the event. Leading up to The pARTy, the Museum will provide information on how to share this sensitive personal information through secure verification systems prior to the celebrations.

A limited number of individual pARTy tickets will be available to the public. Tickets begin at $1,250 each while table sponsorships begin at $10,000. Because of COVID concerns, table sales are also at a limited number. For more information or to purchase tickets or sponsorships, contact the Museum’s Special Events Office at 602.307.2082 or special.events@phxart.org.

The pARTy has been made possible due to the efforts of its volunteer co-chairs, volunteer planning committee, and the generous support of our benefactors and sponsors for the evening.

About Philip C. Curtis
Originally from Michigan, Philip C. Curtis dedicated himself to the arts as an artist, arts advocate, and administrator. In 1937, Curtis was appointed by President Roosevelt to establish the Phoenix Federal Art Center, the early forerunner of Phoenix Art Museum, as part of the WPA’s Federal Art Project. In 1939, he left Arizona to establish the Des Moines Art Center in Iowa, but returned to Arizona in 1947 to work full-time as an artist. Once Phoenix Art Museum officially opened in 1959, he maintained a close relationship with the institution until his death in 2000. Today, the Museum retains more than 100 works by Curtis in its collection, including many donated by the artist himself.

About The Ullman Center for the Art of Philip C. Curtis
The Ullman Center for the Art of Philip C. Curtis is dedicated to the display of artworks by Philip C. Curtis, who founded the Phoenix Federal Art Center, the first iteration of Phoenix Art Museum. Permanently located on the first floor of the Museum’s North Wing, Curtis’ paintings of self-described “gentle surrealism” focus on themes of loneliness, isolation, and magical realism.
